The Brief
Carousel were challenged to achieve high-tier national, broadcast, consumer, and regional coverage for the 14th year of Camp Bestival. We were tasked to drive strong ticket sales from the 1st tier ticket announcement through to the line-up (headliners including; Rag’N’Bone Man, Earth, Wind & Fire Experience ft. Al McKay and Kool and The Gang) and day split announcements, as well as supporting and amplifying an on-site GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt with a little help from Sophie Ellis-Bextor for the Largest Disco Dance.
Our Response
Carousel actioned a hard-working press office to ensure all possible sector-leading coverage was secured across national, broadcast, consumer throughout the campaign. We also secured key high-tier media opportunities on-site including live broadcast interviews with festival curator Rob da Bank and artists, as well as working hard to secure impressive widespread coverage for the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record-break – including managing a photocall moment with Rob da Bank, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, disco dance lead Claire Hodgson MBE and her team of dancers. We also worked alongside filming and photography teams on the day to generate engaging assets for media (which were used by ITV).
The Results
Carousel secured 398 pieces of coverage across broadcast, national, consumer and regional media, helping to sell out the 14th year of the festival. The combined reach from the secured coverage was over 2bn. Wide-spread festival guide coverage was secured across The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Stylist, The Sun, Daily Star, Metro, Radio Times, Red, Digital Spy, as well as Heat Magazine and many more. On-site highlight coverage included; BBC News, ITV News, ITV Meridian South, Daily Mail, iNews, NME, The Sun, Clash and Mixmag. And not forgetting – we broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS!
