Last weekend would have been the fifth glorious instalment of bluedot Festival, the intergalactic spectacle that fuses the best of music, science and the arts at the iconic Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire.
Unfortunately, in the wake of the global pandemic, this highlight of the festival calendar was postponed until next summer but with the stellar line-up – including headliners Bjork, Metronomy and Groove Armada – still intact.
Not content with putting their collective feet up for the summer, the bluedot team got quickly to work creating a bespoke digital event – A Weekend In Outer Space – to fill the void left by the live event.
Pulling favours from across the known-universe, the team worked its magic and delivered a truly wonderful slice of what bluedot is all about, fun, family, discovery, experience with live music broadcasts from Orbital, Elbow, Anna Matronic, Roni Size and talks, panels and enlightenment from Ann Druyan, Brian Cox, Jim Al-Khalili and many more.
The full programme can still be enjoyed at aweekendinouterspace.com
Carousel’s festival team was also quick to galvanise and in less than a week secured nearly 40 pieces of coverage BBC 6 Music, Mixmag, Uncut, AAA, Clash, MEN and many more with an out of this world reach of more than 40M.
We can’t wait to reach for the stars again next year, t-minus 361 days to bluedot 2021 and counting!
